Overview—Empowering Every Voice
Life-saving skills should be within everyone’s reach. That’s why Vital First Aid partnered with the Ingham Institute to deliver accessible, inclusive training tailored for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The program was thoughtfully designed to break down language barriers, ensuring every participant could gain essential first aid knowledge and achieve nationally recognised certification.
The Challenge
The Ingham Institute needed a training provider who could deliver certified first aid training to individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities—many of whom had limited English proficiency and had never completed formal education in emergency response. It was crucial to find a provider that could adapt course delivery, accommodate interpreters, and create a welcoming, supportive learning environment.
The Solution
Vital First Aid designed and delivered tailored training sessions using professional interpreters, allowing participants to fully understand the course material and engage with practical components confidently. The program empowered students from non-English-speaking backgrounds to gain nationally recognised qualifications in first aid—often for the very first time in their lives.
One memorable participant, a father holding his baby throughout the session, had never received any formal training in his home country. Thanks to the our approach, he successfully completed a full first aid course, gaining valuable skills to help protect his family and community.
The Results
- Delivered fully interpreted first aid courses tailored for CALD participants
- Enabled students with no prior formal training to gain essential first aid knowledge
- Fostered confidence and empowerment among attendees
- Demonstrated Vital First Aid’s commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and social impact
